About the Centre
From its inception in 2009, the Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy at Pondicherry University has been actively engaging in teaching, research and extension activities. Centres as itself, have been conceptualized and established by the UGC during the X Five year plan, to correct through teaching and research, the inequalities created through discrimination and deprivation promoted by hegemonic structures. The UGC X plan guidelines for the establishment of these centres recognizes that suchย egemonic
structures have been a โpervasive feature of our societyโ promoting exclusion of large segments of opulation especially those in the margins. It is the goal of the Centre for Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy to contribute to the democratic process by checking the creation and propulsion of social exclusion through theory and policy contributions. In this academic year 2019-20, the Centre takes its goal further through the introduction of a new interdisciplinary Social Science Postgraduate programme in Human Rights and Inclusive Policy. M.A. Human Rights and Inclusive Policy is in line with the subject focus of the Centre with special attention to different national and international bodies that protect Human Rights and facilitate Inclusive Policy.
