Research Area

Prof. Premendu P. Mathur, Ph.D. is Professor & Head, Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Dean, School of Life Sciences. He served as the Vice-Chancellor, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, India (2012-2017) He is Founder Head, Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics at Pondicherry University. He received M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Banaras Hindu University. He is a Fellow of NASI, NAMS (India) and ISCA. He was General Secretary (Scientific Activities) of the Indian Science Congress Association and is Vice-President, Asian Association of Andrology.

He has published more than 180 papers and participated in more than 100 national and international scientific conferences. He is recipient of Asutosh Mookerjee Memorial Award, Young Scientists’ Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Rockefeller Foundation Special Postdoctoral Fellowship Award, Rockefeller Foundation Biotechnology Career Award, Dr. P.N. Shah Memorial US Vitamin (India) Oration Award, ICMR International Fellowship Award for Senior Indian Biomedical Scientist, Subhash Mukherjee Memorial Infar India Oration Award, Dr. K.K. Iya Memorial Oration etc.. He has travelled widely within India and abroad.
